New Kid on the Block: CSS3

Posted in Web Design on January 5th, 2010 by – Be the first to comment

Cascading style sheets (CSS) have long been hailed as the Web?s bridge to the promised land of separation of content and presentation.? But while we Web developers have happily kicked our table-based layouts (mostly) to the curb in favor of much more manageable elements marked up with CSS styles, things are still far from perfect.? Much of this has to do with intractable browser compatibility issues, but that aside, a lot could be solved by upgrading CSS to address the things we?ve learned over the years.

In steps CSS3 ?

The newest family member to the style sheet family is CSS3. With the possibility of new and exciting things when it comes to designing and how you design, things look hopeful on the horizon. Word on the street is that with CSS3, you can create more diverse styles sheets for large variety of occasions and much much more.? All of this information can be found at css3.info more in depth and detail.

If you don?t want to wade through all the details, here?s a summary for Web developers and Web users broken down into website parts:

Borders

border-color: in Firefox there is now an option for a fading gray border, a very common effect that is now achieved in somewhat kludgy ways. border-image: this feature can define an image to be used instead of the normal border of an element. This feature is actually split up into a couple of properties: border-image and border-corner-image. border-radius: a new feature in CSS3, which allows you to create round corners on box-items (very sexy stuff ? if you?re using Firefox or Safari, a page that helps you roll your own ?themes? on the site of our favorite Javascript library, jQuery). box-shadow: another new feature in CSS3, gives you the option of setting up a shadow on a box-item and varying the options ? once again, a very common activity that is currently done in unsettlingly dirty ways.

Backgrounds

background-origin/background-clip: this property is going to be used to calculate background-position of a background in a certain box. A feature in this property is used to determine whether the backgrounds extends into the border or not. background-size: You can specify this size in pixels, width and height, or in percentages of a background. multiple backgrounds: this snazzy new feature allows the implementation of multiple backgrounds on one element.

Best CMS Applications For SEO

Posted in Web Design on January 5th, 2010 by – Be the first to comment

Looking for the “Perfect” CMS for you SEO campaign? Well according to many professionals, particularly with numerous?SEO Philippines consultants that had their hands on some of the many CMS’ out in the market, there really isn’t a “perfect” CMS that could used for SEO. Almost all CMS softwares has their advantages and disadvantages pertaining to its use in SEO. The only basis that describe’s a CMS’ capabilities in terms of SEO or with any other uses are its user-friendly features. Although almost all CMS applications can be used for SEO, many still agree on several CMS applications because of its ease in use as well as with its built-in or add-on features primarily use in SEO. Popular names in the CMS market today include the popular Joomla! CMS, MODx, SilverStripe, and Drupal, and WordPress. Joomla! Many have agreed of Joomla!’s uses in SEO is the best by far. It was a re-branded release of Mambo 4.5.2.3 which, itself, was combined with other bug and moderate-level security fixes. Part of what made Joomla! very popular in the market, not only for SEO but in almost all web management purposes, is its third party program extensions called “Plugins” (Previously known as “Mambots” in Mambo). Plugins, like those found in Mozilla Firefox, are background extensions that extend Joomla! with new functionality. One example is the WikiBot which allows the author of Joomla! content to use “Wikitags” in Joomla! articles which will auto-create dynamic hyperlinks to Wikipedia articles when displayed. There are over 3,000 extensions for Joomla! available via the Extensions Directory. One popular Plugin used specifically for SEO is JoomSEF. ARTIO JoomSEF is a SEO component for Joomla! Content Management System that rewrites URLs to be Search Engine Friendly (SEF) and to be human easily understandable. It works with multilingual sites by integrating JoomFish component support. It also nables users full customization of wide-range of meta tags for any URL of the website and works with both Apache HTTP Server and IIS. Popular features of JoomSEF used for SEO inludes:

Rewriting of original Joomla! URLs to be Search Engine Friendly and human understandable. Providing support for multilingual sites using JoomFish. Providing URLs internationalization. Providing wide range of editable meta tags for any URL in your Joomla! Providing fully customizable URLs. Providing customizable 404 page. Helps in handling 301 redirects. MODx MODx is another popular CMS used by many?SEO Philippines consultants. One feature that made it popular is its complete control of all metadata and URL structure for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) purposes, all of it found in the application. Other than its SEO capabilities, MODx also became popular because of its other features. This includes: Cross-browser flexibility including Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer on Windows, Firefox and Safari in Mac OS X, and Firefox in Linux. Works well even on modest shared servers. Supports any Ajax library including jQuery, MooTools, ExtJS and Prototype. Object-oriented core code. Ability to customize the Manager on a per-deployment basis. MODx were also known for its several awards and recognitions. In July 2007, MODx was awarded Packt Publishing’s?Most Promising Open Source Content Management System award. On February 6, 2009, OpenSourceCMS.com user rankings placed MODx version 0.9.6.3 as the 3rd highest ranked of 78 applications in the CMS/portal category with 2885 votes. SilverStripe Although not as popularly used compared to Joomla!, some have agreed that SilverStripe can be as useful as Joomla! in SEO, particularly because of its Search engine friendly URLs, meta-data management, and XML sitemap generation. According to many professionals, SilverStripe’s popularity in SEO was mainly fueled by its user-friendly features. Features of SilverStripe include: A modern, extensible web-application interface. Drag and drop tree-based navigation structure. Work-flow management: Draft/Published separation through content staging, document revision control/rollback with ‘compare’ functionality. Highly configurable security/permissions model. Optimizations for heavy loads (e.g. manual cache refresh). Drupal A very popular CMS used for web design, Drupal was also used in SEO. Similar to Joomla!, Drupal also allows third-party contributed (often abbreviated to “contrib”) modules and themes to extend or override Drupal’s default behaviors without changing Drupal core’s code. However, current versions of contribs doesn’t support any special SEO functions. According to several?Web design Philippines consultants, many are still using the CMS for SEO purposes.
One popular feature of the Drupal is that i can run on any computing platform that supports both a web server capable of running PHP version 4.3.5+ (including Apache, IIS, Lighttpd, and nginx) and a database (such as MySQL or PostgreSQL) to store content and settings. The disadvantage, however, is that Drupal is a bit complicated compared to other CMS applications. For more information visit to our site at http://www.myoptimind.com

What is “Web 2.0”:

Posted in Web Design on January 5th, 2010 by – Be the first to comment

The term “Web 2.0” can be reffered to the extention and ubgradation of “Web 1.0.” It was first coined by Darcy DiNucci in the year 1999. In her article “Fragmented Future,” she argues “The Web we know now, which loads into a browser window in essentially static screenfulls, is only an embryo of the Web to come. The first glimmerings of Web 2.0 are beginning to appear, and we are just starting to see how that embryo might develop The Web will be understood not as screenfulls of text and graphics but as a transport mechanism, the either through which interactivity happens. It will [...] appear on your computer screen, [...] on your TV set [...] your car dashboard [...] your cell phone [...] hand-held game machines [...] maybe even your microwave oven.”

This term deals mainly with Web design and aesthetics; she argues that the Web is “fragmenting” due to the widespread use of portable Web-ready devices. Her article is targeted at designers, prompting them to code for an ever-increasing variety of hardware. As such, her use of the term hints at – but does not directly relate to – the current uses of the term. Then, the concept was silent for a few years.

In 2004, the term web 2.0 was popularised by O’Reilly Media and MediaLive. They hosted the first Web 2.0 conference. During the opening session, John Batelle and Tim O’Reilly outlined their definition of the “Web as Platform,” where software applications are built upon the Web as opposed to upon the desktop. According to their remarks, the unique aspect of this sudden migration is that the customers are building the business for you. O’Reilly et al contrasted “Web 2.0 with Web 1.0.” They associated Web 2.0 with the business models of Netscape and Encyclopedia Britannica online.
Features of “Web 2.0”:

“Web 2.0” websites help the user to do more than just retrieve the information. They allow the users to run software-applications totally through a browser. They can also build interactive facilities to provide “Network as platform” computing.

“Web 2.0” sites facilitate the users to own and exercise complete control over the data. These sites encourage the users to add value to applications as they use them.

Bart Decrem, a founder and former CEO of Flock, considers “Web 2.0” as the “participatory Web,” and regards the web as the better source of information as Web 1.0.

Besides these, following are some of the additional features of “Web 2.0”:

* Rich user experience
* User participation
* Dynamic content
* Metadata
* Web standards,
* Scalability
* Openness
* Freedom
* Collective intelligence and
* Total user participation, can also be viewed as essential attributes of Web 2.0.

Technology Overview:

Web 2.0 combines the capabilities of client- and server-side software, content syndication and the use of network protocols. Standards-based web browsers use plugins and software extensions to manage the content and the user interactions. Web 2.0 sites provide users with information storage, creation, and distribution capabilities that were not possible in “Web 1.0″.

Besides these, Web 2.0 may typically include the following features and techniques:

Andrew McAfee  Uses the acronym (SLATES) for explaining these features and techniques:

* Search: Finding information through keyword search.
* Links: Connects information together into a meaningful information ecosystem using the model of the Web, and provides low-barrier social tools.
* Authoring: The ability to create and update content leads to the joint work of many rather than just a few web authors. In wikis, users can extend, undo and redo each other’s work. In blogs, posts and the comments of individuals build up over a period of time.
* Tags: Categorization of content by users adding one-word descriptions to facilitate searching, without dependence on pre-made categories. This is referred to as “folksonomy.”
* Extensions: Software that makes the Web an application platform as well as a document server.
* Signals: The use of syndication technology such as RSS to notify users of content change

How does it work:

The client-side/web browser technologies typically used in Web 2.0 development are Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (Ajax), Adobe Flash, and JavaScript/Ajax frameworks such as Yahoo! UI Library, Dojo Toolkit, MooTools, and jQuery.

JavaScript is used by Ajax programming to upload and download new data from the web server without reloading a full page. To continue the interaction of a user with the same page, communications such as the data requests send to the server are separated from the data coming back to the page. Otherwise, the user would have to routinely wait till the whole page gets reloaded. This also improves the perform of a page as the information request will be sent faster compared to the previous version of Web 1.0.

The data received by an Ajax will be formatted in XML or JSON. When this data is received through Ajax, the JavaScript program then uses the Document Object Model (DOM) to dynamically update the web page depending on the new data. These sites also allow for a rapid and interactive user experience.

In short, using these tips and techniques, the web designers can make  their web pages to function just like the desktop applications. For example, Google Docs uses a technique to create web-based word processor.

Adobe Flash is another added technology used in Web 2.0 applications. It’s capable of playing even audio and video files. This has led to the emergence of

www.youtube.com

where the video media is smoothly integrates itself with standard HTML. Besides, it has many capabilities which are not possible  in HTML.

Along with Flash and ajax, Javascript/Ajax frameworks have recently became a very popular means of creating a Web 2.0 sites.  Many of them come with customisable widgets to accomplish such common tasks as picking a date from the calender and displaying a data chart etc.

On the server side, Web 2.0 uses most of the same technologies as Web 1.0. Languages such as PHP, Ruby, ColdFusion, Perl, Python, and ASP.
Usage:

The popularity of the term Web 2.0 sites has led many in academia and business to embrace this technology. In addition, increasing use of Blogs, highly sophesticated sites, social networking technologies also contributed their own share in popularising this technology.

All these factors helped many in academia and business ubdated their data bases with Web 2.0 technology. As a result, every domain have their web site with 2.0 extention. For example:

Library 2.0, Social Work 2.0, Enterprise 2.0, PR 2.0, Classroom 2.0, Publishing 2.0, Medicine 2.0, Telco 2.0, Travel 2.0, Government 2.0, and even Porn 2.0.

Many web based and desktop applications:

Besides all the advantages mentioned, it also prompted for the origin of many web based and desktop applications. Many new internet applications were originated due to Web 2.0 technology. It has seen many new advancements such as RSS and Atom. Most of these are XML formats respectively.

Thus, the Web 2.0 can be reffered as the extention of Web 1.0. Besides, it’s the sophesticated technology in the current internet era.

In order to design and develop the web sites using the Web 2.0 technology, Dot Logic Web Solutions is rendering its valuable services in the areas of designing, development and training the students in this technology respectively. To know more details, log on to

Magento VS Prestashop

Posted in Web Design on January 5th, 2010 by – Be the first to comment

In this days of Open source ecommerce, After the power Magento, I got to know of another opensource ecommerce shopping cart software which seemed to inline with Magento?s principles of offering a top-notch ecommerce software for free and I have had the pleasure to test drive ? and install in production environment ? Prestashop, a simpler alternative, that serves ecommerce with a nice ajax animated shopping cart and various interesting features.

1)????? Prestashop and Magento both e-commerce solutions are available under Open Software License (OSL).

2)????? Prestashop Installation requirements are Depends on GD library of PHP. For magento installation need a lot of extensions like PDO, CURL etc?

3)????? As per as functionality concern functional features like Customer groups ,Wish list, product comparison, RSS feed, TAG in magento e-commerce. Multiple store control is also a powerful feature of magento. ?On the other hand statistics and membership these two functional features are available in prestashop e-commerce. For more functionality and features you can also hire magento programmer.

4)????? There are not proper shipping and payment modules or any label printing option in prestashop. Magento contain all these features.

5)????? Prestashop adopt smarty template engine based on PHP 5. If you see the code of prestashop you can find the code is much more, for it adopts smarty template, and increase the workload of extending development. Magento adopt Zend framework, not smarty template engine. For the programmer who is making extending development, they not only need to master PHP, but also need to handle Zend framework.

6)????? Prestashop?s create impressive effect on search. ?The search on their frontend appears faster than magento and is based on score to bring in relevance of search.

7)????? Magento is much SEO friendly than prestashop.

8)????? In the prestashop the upgrade strategy is not clearly defined.? The upgrade impact on existing customizations is unsure in prestashop. On the other hand Magento?s customization scheme depends on the excellent OOP concept of subclasses and method. And this is extensively useful in keeping the customizations apart from Magento?s main releases.

9)????? As mention above prestashop uses a smarty template system and javascript based on Jquery so the complete OOP coding offers a lot of flexibility for design. Magento?s design seems to be difficult than prestashop so don?t bother much with magento design.

10)?? Flip side, the back office of Magento is less intuitive and technical structure it required more specialized skills for any adjustment.

11)?? Magento Community have 130,000 members, Prestashop have 30000 members Community. Some approaches like magento team involvement, video tutorial, screen casts are work behind the wonderful magento community.

Stephanie Nicholson is a freelance content writer having creative knowledge of latest technology trend. She also has creative tips for hire magento programmer or hire magento developer.

Virtosoftware Announces Virto List Form Extender – a New Web Part for Customizing SharePoint List Forms

Posted in Web Design on January 5th, 2010 by – Be the first to comment

Virtosoftware presents the beta version of a new Ajax and JavaScript based web part for Microsoft SharePoint. The web part allows for quick and simple customizing SharePoint list forms for creating, editing and viewing list items.

For all SharePoint lists and libraries there are assigned default forms that are displayed when a user wants to add, edit or view a list item. These forms sometimes contain a very restricted amount of information about the list or the item, have some problems with usability or just do not always look nice enough. With new Virto List Form Extender web part by Virtosoftware you can easily design your own list forms and replace the default ones with them with just a few clicks in a way that fully satisfies your specific needs and requirements.

The new component is extremely easy to install, adjust and use. Once the web part is installed, you can immediately start designing your own list forms with additional features of allowing for autofill fields, defining default field values as well as setting up security rights to restrict the access to specific tabs and fields for particular users and user groups.

The web part is based on Ajax and JavaScript technologies to guarantee among the others quick access to a list form data without postback. An important detail is that Virto List Form Extender web part does not fully modify the default list forms that are stored on your SharePoint server, but rather extends the list form features and functionality on the client side, keeping the option to restore the default forms at any time.

Key Features

1. Creating own Forms (View, Edit, New Item) for Custom List.
2. Grouping fields into particular tabs.
3. Quick switching between tabs with no delays.
4. Ability to add as many tabs as you need on each form.
5. Cool and dynamic JQuery Date Picker.
6. Autocomplete option (using values of the same or any other List).
7. Using default values (coming in future versions).
8. Optional Tooltip containing any type information(text, links e t.c.).

The commercial release of Virto List Form Extender for SharePoint web part will be available in the middle of January 2010. Fortunately, you can already try beta version of the web part at http://www.virtosoftware.com/sharepoint-list-form-extender.aspx . Web Firms Should Use Appcelerator’s Titanium Mobile

Posted in Web Design on January 5th, 2010 by – Be the first to comment

Web Programmer To Iphone Developer

At Cloudmanic Labs we have been playing around with iPhone development since the release of the Apple SDK. We all have many years of programing experience, computer science degrees, and an overall love of programing. However, our love is in scripting languages such as php or javascript. Objective-C is just not a fun language to program. We are web dudes!!! Overall, our conclusion was we are not going to write Objective-C code that we would be proud of and at the same time continue to maintain our web programing skill sets.

Don’t Feel Like Becoming An iPhone Doob

With the boom of the iPhone we saw a lot of web development firms drop everything and start programing iPhones. While we don’t blame them, the money is good, I think many of them made the switch way to quickly. We are seeing way too many poorly written iPhone apps and you can tell they were written by someone with a web programing background not an Objective-C background. We saw this issue early on and did not want that to be us, a company that jumped on the bandwagon way to quickly. So we started to looking at subcontractors to partner with to write our iPhone applications. At this point we have worked with a few and have not been very happy. All our applications interact with our web services. We need to hire a team that understands both sides. While we are sure there are many subcontractors out there that fit the bill, of the subcontractors we have hired there was a strong understanding of one side or the other (Objective-C Vs. Web Services). Frustrated, we started looking around for a solution that would allow us to deliver a rich and powerful iPhone app that interacted with our web services, without us losing our core knowledge base of web programming. We recently found a solution that we are really excited about…….

Drum Roll Please…….Appcelerator’s Titanium Mobile

A well funded start-up called Appcelerator has a product named Titanium Mobile. Titanium Mobile allows you to write mostly native iPhone applications using javascript libraries that any decent web programmer is already an expert at, such as jQuery. The good folks at Appcelerator have created a javascript API to create native iPhone UI elements like table views, buttons, switches, sliders, and more. They also provide a javascript API to interaction with the hardware such as; camera, gps, touch screen and more. With this framework you can develop rich and powerful iPhone applications that can be submitted to the Apple App Store only using javascript/css/html. We have rewritten some of our Objective-C applications using Titanium and the development process was twice as fast. It was faster for two reasons. One, we know javascript way better then Objective-C. Two, programing in Javascript is way faster then Objective-C anyway. Titanium Mobile is not for everyone. If we were writing a game or something I would not use Titanium. Titanium, in its current form, really nails down allowing a web app developer to create a mobile extension of their web application. If you are not doing anything ground breaking on the iPhone just building an application with normal native SDK controls Titanium will knock your socks off. As of this writing Titanium version 0.8 is days way from being released. The product has been in beta for about a year now and they will have a full public release when they get to version 1.0 (or so I understand). With the the release of 0.8 we believe they have plugged all the holes. In our eyes this product is ready for real production use.

Pro JavaScript – Editors

Pro JavaScript – IDEs

JavaScript has seen a rise in popularity in the last five years, from almost dying a death from incompatible browser versions.? Instead, modern web developers have a great arsenal of tools to help them create quality JavaScript for every web application.

IDEs

Server-side developers have long enjoyed a great set of tools, which kept getting better every year.? JavaScript developers had traditionally been expected to code by hand, or perhaps (if they were lucky) have syntax highlighting (which often didn’t work correctly).? That’s changed over the past several years with a number of high-quality Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) catering to or at least supporting JavaScript.

Aptana
Perhaps the first major IDE specifically written to cater to JavaScript developers, Aptana has become a staple with many developers of all stripes.? Aptana’s JavaScript support goes beyond syntax coloring, and includes bundled support for a dozen or so of the top JavaScript frameworks (including Dojo, jQuery, YUI, MochiKit and many more).? Aptana was one of the earlier IDEs to support “code completion” for the JavaScript libraries.? By typing just part of a JavaScript operation, and hitting a key, the IDE will show you various options on how to complete the code (saving typing and potentially hours of debugging because of one wrong keystroke!)

Eclipse
Eclipse is the granddaddy of extendible IDEs.? Long just for the Java platform, Eclipse has been extended to support multiple major languages, including JavaScript, through customization and plugins.? Aptana is itself a highly customized and focused version of Eclipse, but still Eclipse all the same.? For those already using Eclipse for web development, adding in a JavaScript plugin will net you some of the benefits of Aptana with none of the learning curve.

NetBeans
Long considered “past it”, NetBeans has seen a resurgence in recent years, with renewed development on the core platform, and extensive support for languages like PHP, Ruby and others, in addition to Java.? (Note – Aptana and Eclipse also offer support for multiple server side languages, although only Aptana and NetBeans provides good ‘out of the box’ experiences for anything beyond Java).? NetBeans is not based on Eclipse, but is its own program.? For those who don’t like the visual stylings of Eclipse may find NetBeans a welcome change.

Microsoft Visual Studio
Microsoft earlier announced that it would bundle and support jQuery in its Visual Studio lines.? While not offering extensive support for other languages like PHP yet, those developers who are already working in an MS environment would do well to look in to enabling jQuery support to get code completion and inline documentation help while developing.

Pro JavaScript – Libraries

JavaScript has seen a resurgence in popularity in the last five years.? What was once almost written off in the early 2000s is now a hot skill to have for any web developer.? The landscape has changed a lot over those years, and JavaScript developers have a number of options at their disposal to make development much much easier.

Popular Libraries

Let’s face it – writing a bunch of code by hand stinks.? It’s time consuming, error prone, and you’re often stuck trying to figure out basic problems and making sure things work the same across all the major browsers.? A number of libraries and frameworks have sprung up over the last few years to help ease the pain, and let you focus more on your business logic rather than the plumbing.

jQuery
jQuery is one of the most popular, because it’s intended to be lightweight and easy to integrate in to existing projects.? Often with just a couple of lines of code you can achieve some pretty impressive animation and fading effects – perfect for adding that “web 2.0″ touch to your website.

YUI
This toolkit from Yahoo! is another popular choice for developers, not least because the weight of Yahoo! is behind it.? This is the code they use on their own sites, and it’s been tested, tested and tested some more to ensure a good experience on all the major browsers.? Their documentation is solid, and the community is strong, although not as large as jQuery’s.? The biggest drawback to YUI may be its verbosity – it often takes 3 or 4 lines of code to accomplish what jQuery can do in 1 or 2.

Dojo
Dojo is another one with large corporate support – IBM has developers working on and contributing to Dojo, and they use Dojo in some of their own web products.? Like YUI, it’s been a victim of verbosity, but also like YUI, Dojo’s aims are larger than those of jQuery.? Dojo is one of the few major toolkits to offer internationalization support, for instance.? If you have a major web project, you owe it to yourself to consider Dojo, but prepare for a steep learning curve.

MooTools, Prototype, ExtJS, mochikit, ZK and others are also candidates to consider, although all tend to have smaller communities than the first three listed above.? As new contenders fill various voids in the library space this will undoubtedly become a more crowded market.

More information can be found by visiting the various framework sites, or by visiting http://jsmag.com.

Let’s first understand the reason for this type of difficulty. Overtime, most of us tend to add many applications to our pc, which means a lot of information and activity for your windows; at a certain moment it’s possible that this type of error may pop up. Incorrectly adding or removing software programs has the ability to damage a complicated and necessary area of your system, which in computer jargon is called the registry.

A damaged registry causes difficulties such as a “jquery IE object doesn’t support this property or method” as well as additional irritating errors. It is the job of your windows registry to keep a record of your pc’s software and hardware additions, upgrades, and deletions. With the installation of new software on your computer, it records the application’s specific settings, including where the software can be found and what it needs to operate. Thus, if this component of the registry is impaired, then you should anticipate varied troubles with your pc to pop up.

Most of these tools offer no-cost scans and fixes (usually up to a certain amount), so you have nothing to lose by trying one out. in a few short moments your days of dealing with frustrating error messages will soon be over. A word of caution – please don’t take a stab at working on the complex registry yourself; this can often produce additional sources of worry.

Let’s first understand the underlying cause of all this trouble. Most users are continually adding various programs, utilities, upgrades, etc., to their system, and windows becomes burdened with all these new applications; so after a period of time your pc may show signs of trouble. Improperly or incompletely loading or unloading applications can easily corrupt a complicated and necessary area of your system, which is termed the ‘registry’.

When your registry is corrupted, it can lead to problems such as a jquery ajax not working in IE and a variety of irritating errors. It is the job of your windows registry to keep a record of your pc’s software and hardware additions, upgrades, and deletions. Any time that you install an application or an update, it registers that software’s various settings, for instance, where it’s located on the hd etc. Should that part of the registry become corrupted, then you should anticipate a variety of computer troubles to come out.

Whenever you find yourself dealing with a jquery ajax not working in IE, the most important thing to do initially is examine the registry to successfully pin down which portion of it is corrupted. The easiest and safest way to do that is to utilize professional software designed to fix your registry; these useful applications will quickly analyze your registry, pinpointing whatever trouble spots there are and automatically fixing them! In most cases, these utilities allow unlimited number of free scans and limited fixes of your registry at no charge, enabling you to give your registry a “tune-up” – it’s likely that with these tools you’ll be able to eliminate these problems once and for all. Take note: don’t try to mess with your windows registry system by yourself; this can often produce a host of computer troubles.

Posted in Web Design on January 4th, 2010 by – Be the first to comment

If you’ve ever been working at your computer when suddenly you get a jquery IE invalid error, and if you’re at a loss as to what to do or where to turn, you can start to breathe easy? – your troubles will soon be over. If you take a few moments to read what follows, you are going find out how practically anyone can easily solve these problems and other pc errors in just a few clicks.

Before we go on, let’s establish what is at the root of these issues. Most users are continually adding various programs, utilities, upgrades, etc., to their system, when it becomes ‘crowded’ in our windows system; so after a period of time your computer might begin to misbehave. Even one bad software installation or removal has the ability to damage a complicated and necessary area of your system, referred to in the computer world as the registry.

When your registry is corrupted, it can lead to such frustrating occurrences as a jquery IE invalid error in addition to other annoying problems. The windows registry was created to keep a record of all your software and hardware installations/removals and updates. Each time you add an application or an update, the registry notes the software’s required settings, for instance, where it’s located on the hd etc. As a result, if damage occurs to this part of your registry, you can practically depend on a variety of computer troubles to quickly emerge.

So if you encounter a jquery IE invalid error, the first order of business is to search the windows registry in order to learn which part causes these problems. The quickest and most effective method for this is to download a tool to “clean” your registry; in just moments, it will examine your registry, discovering the ‘contaminated’ sectors and fixing them on the spot. Registry repair tools usually provide unlimited amount of scans and certain repairs at no cost, therefore, you have a risk-free opportunity to repair your registry. it’s very likely that this type of computer trouble will become a thing of the past. A word to the wise: it’s not wise to play doctor (or technician) with your registry system; you can end up causing even more pc problems.

Build powerful and interactive web applications with jQuery UI using Packt’s new book

Posted in Web Design on January 4th, 2010 by – Be the first to comment

jQuery UI 1.7: The User Interface Library for jQuery is a new book that helps developers create powerful front-end interfaces for their web applications with jQuery UI.

jQuery is an open source library of interface components such as interactions, full-featured widgets, and animation effects, based on the stellar jQuery JavaScript library. Each component is built according to jQuery’s event-driven architecture and is themeable, thereby making it easy for developers of any skill level to integrate and extend into their own code.

Through this book, developers will learn how the brand-new CSS framework styles each of the jQuery library components. They can enhance the interactivity of their pages by displaying messages and images using the dialog widget, adding the deterministic progress bar for giving visitor feedback and providing a drag-and-drop mechanism for rearrangement of the elements around their pages.

This is an example-based book which gives developers a step-by-step approach through the implementation and customization of each library component, thereby helping them bring out the best of the library. They will also be able to assemble their interfaces using latest technologies like AJAX and JSON which are mentioned at the end of each chapter in the ‘Fun With’ section.

Front-end designers and developers who have working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and are willing to learn the jQuery UI User Interface Library will find this book beneficial.

Specially revised for version 1.7 of jQuery UI, this book has been written to maximize your experience with the library by breaking down each component and walking you through examples that progressively build upon your knowledge, taking you from beginner to advanced usage in a series of easy-to-follow steps.

In this book, you’ll learn how each component can be initialized in a basic default implementation and then see how easy it is to customize its appearance and configure its behavior to tailor it to the requirements of your application. You’ll look at the configuration options and the methods exposed by each component’s API to see how these can be used to bring out the best of the library.

Events play a key role in any modern web application if it is to meet the expected minimum requirements of interactivity and responsiveness, and each chapter will show you the custom events fired by the component covered and how these events can be intercepted and acted upon.
